Baptism is a believer’s first step in obedience to God whereby they make public their decision to follow Christ.
Biblical examples of baptism include Jesus’ own baptism (Matt 3, Mark 1, Luke 3, John 1) and the day of Pentecost (Acts 2) where 3,000 people were led to faith after hearing Peter’s sermon and were baptized.
A person is ready to be baptized when he or she comes to the belief that Jesus loves them; that they have done things that need forgiveness; that Jesus died so he or she might have forgiveness; and when they are committed to following Jesus according the precepts of scripture.
